Peggy L. Baker
November 10, 1954 ~ January 2, 2018 (age 63) 63 Years OldCHAMPAIGN – Peggy Lynn Baker, age 63, died surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday (Jan. 2, 2018) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
She was born Nov. 10, 1954, in Evergreen Park to Woodrow "Woody" and Dorothy "Dotty" Baker. Peggy graduated from Lyons Township High School, and went on to finish her associate degree at Parkland College.
She had identical twin sons, and worked as a certified alcohol and drug counselor over 25 years, finishing her career at Accent Counseling, where she loved her work helping those dealing with life's challenges; she helped thousands of people over her career.
Peggy's favorite hobby was gardening, and she spent much of her free time in her gardens at her home in Champaign. She simply loved making the ground surrounding her home beautiful with a diverse setting of flowers and bushes; it was her sanctuary.
She also loved spending time with her six grandchildren (Jessi, Ashley, Danny, Jacob, Sean and Maggie) and friend (Sue). She is survived by her brother (Roger), two sons (Jason and Chris Blickhan), six grandchildren and many cousins and nephews.
Family, friends and others whose lives were touched by Peggy are invited to Owens Funeral Home (101 N. Elm St.) in Champaign at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018. The visitation will be two hours prior to the service (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.). Burial will be at Bailey Memorial Cemetery in Tolono.
