Pauline (Brown) Jones
May 27, 1925 ~ January 6, 2018 (age 92) 92 Years OldPauline (Brown) Jones, 92, of Mahomet passed away on Saturday (Jan. 6, 2018) at the Farmer City Nursing Home.
She was born May 27, 1925, in Champaign, the daughter of George A. and Gertrude (Bell) Brown. She was a 1943 graduate of Mahomet High School. Pauline married Harold “Jonsey” Jones on May 10, 1946.
Pauline drove a school bus for the children of the Mahomet area for 44 years. She touched many young lives along the way, no doubt bringing a little lightness to the days of young students. Pauline also traveled to Rantoul, assisting World War II efforts where needed. She ws a charter member of the Mahomet Grace Baptist Church. Pauline will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her caretakers at Farmer City Nursing Home fondly named her “Zippy” for her neverending energy and zest for life.
Pauline is survived by her children, Harold “Ken” (Belinda) Jones of Mobile, Ala., James “JR” (Kathy O’Kane) Jones of Mahomet and Paula (Jim) Nibling of Seymour; brother, Norman Brown of Houston; grandchildren, Tiffany (Justin) Thalappillil of Great Neck, N.Y., Jamie (Michael) Wourms of Willowbrook, James “JR” (Amy) Jones Jr. of Mahomet, Amber Nibling of Champaign, Ashley Nibling of Champaign and Zack Jones of Mobile; and great-grandchildren, Imani, Amaya, Madelyn, Aubrey and Lilly.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Jones; father, George Brown; and mother, Gertrude (Bell) Brown.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at Blair-Owens Funeral Home, 102 E. Dunbar St., Mahomet. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hankins Cemetery in Newton.
