Patricia Loraine Murphy, 91, was born July 25, 1927, in Urbana. She passed away peacefully at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, on Tuesday (May 7, 2019) at 7:43 a.m.
Visitation will be at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign, on Thursday, May 9, from 5 to 7 p.m., with rosary at 4:30 p.m. The funeral services will be held at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 1303 Lincolnshire Drive, Champaign, on Friday, May 10, at 11 a.m.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Grace Ducey; sister, Joni Bash; husband, Gerald H. Murphy; and sons, James Kevin and James Patrick Murphy.
Surviving are her children, Peggy (Bill) Kelley, Tom Teister (Therese Flanagan), Colleen (Rick) Roberts, Jeanne Murphy (Peter) Hutchison, Daniel (Lisa) Murphy, Michael Murphy, Kathleen Murphy Shoemaker and Mary Beth Murphy (Joel) Magad; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 12 granddogs.
Patricia graduated from Champaign High School and St. Mary’s Academy, Nauvoo. Besides a full-time mother, she was a stewardess with American Airlines, Sunday school teacher, substitute teacher, librarian, Realtor, and a distributor for Amway, Sunrider and Studio Girl.
She enjoyed swimming, singing, tap dancing, whistling and playing the piano. Pat used to joke and say she was everyone’s mother and enjoyed having people gather at her house. She was always willing to drive her children and their friends where they needed to go. She was an avid Cubs fan and was grateful to see them win the World Series.
Pat was an angel on earth and loved her family so very much. Throughout her entire life she was happiest when she was with her children and was always the life of the party.
