Norman 'Teddy' Cooper, 68, died on the morning of Monday, June 17, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
A service will be held at a later date in the Chicago area.
Norman was born on April 2, 1951 in Chicago to Thelma Mack-Cooper. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Debbie Bersig; a son, Rashad Archey and his wife, Liz of Urbana; a daughter, Tie Cooper of MI; 3 grandsons, Brandon, Brian and Kameron; 2 sisters, Catherine Watson and Yvette Gardner, both of MI; 2 brothers, Curtis Cooper and Dwayne Cooper, both of Chicago; along with many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his loving dog, Katie.
Norman proudly attended and played football for the University of Illinois from 1969-1971. He was always loyal to his Illinois sports teams including the Cubs, the Bears and the Illini. Norman's family will remember his sense of humor and his big smile. Locally, Norman worked for the MTD for 20 years until his retirement.
Due to his love of animals, Norman's family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to your local humane society or shelter.
