Mary (Dawber) Thompson

Mary Christine Thompson nee Dawber, age 80, went to rest on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at OSF Healthcare Sacred Heart of Mary, Urbana.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, Feb. 18 from 2-4 pm at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St, Champaign with the rosary service beginning at 1:30 pm. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 19 at 10am at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 403 W. Clark, Champaign with Fr. Joseph Donton officiating. After the Mass, friends and family are invited to a luncheon to be held in the parish center.In accordance with her wishes, Mary will be cremated after the Mass with a private interment service to take place at a later date.

Mary was the loving wife to MV Skip Thompson. Mother of Christopher (Carrie), Mark, Julius, Maureen, Jonathan (Gretchen), Van James (Late Vicki), Dolores and Robert. Proud Nana of Emily, Alexis, Sophia, Kayle, late Elijah, Jennifer, Jayden, Anissa, Olivia, Sebastian and Meagan (Dalon) McHugh. And Cherished Great Nana of Kayden, Ambree, Antonio, London, Jalen and Miles. Dear Sister of Ann Ridgwell, James, the late Allen, the late John and the late Margaret. Survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Mary was born on January 4, 1938 in Kent, England; beloved daughter of the late Hilda nee Farley and James Dawber. She became a US citizen in 1966 after her marriage to Skip Thompson.

Mary was dedicated to caring for her loving family.
