Marie Ann Sexton

Marie Ann Sexton, 75, passed away peacefully at her home in Houston, TX on September 18, 2019. She was born on May 6, 1944, the first daughter of 5 children of Dr. Joseph E. Sexton and Loretta Sturdyvin Sexton of Champaign County. 

She attended Duchesene High School in St. Louis and furthered her education at Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY, John Carroll University and Trinity College in Washington, DC. and then moved to Houston in the 1990s to work as a law clerk for Mr. Parker and Associates. She also worked as a librarian for the University of St. Thomas in Houston. 

Marie was a devoted mother, daughter and sister. She worked tirelessly to keep her daughter motivated through high school, college and finally medical school. She retired in Houston and spent much of her time with her twin sister, Mary Nell Sexton and her brother, Joseph Sexton. She loved intellectual projects and hoped to write a book and learn Spanish in her retirement. 

She will be missed greatly by her daughter, Marie Witte and her sister, Mary Nell Sexton and Loretta C. Ondrink. 

Owens Funeral Home will conduct a funeral Mass at 10am on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1303 Lincolnshire Drive, Champaign with Msgr. Stanley Deptula officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Tolono.
