Champaign - Karen M. Dudas, 71 passed away peacefully on February 23, 2018.
Karen was born in Chicago on May 14, 1946 to the late William M. and Della Dudas.
Dear sister to the late William J and sister in law to the late Dolores Dudas. Devoted aunt to Alan, James (deceased) Susan (Mitchell) Thomas Dudas. Loving great aunt and great-great aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Karen graduated from Downers Grove High School in 1963 and from Cornell University Iowa. She then went on to earn her Ph.D. in Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she worked in the library for 30 years until her retirement.
Karen enjoyed the camaraderie of numerous dear friends whether it was at an Illini game, book club meetings, attending movies, plays, lunching or traveling together. She had many talents: playing the piano, the guitar, and song writing.
A memorial service will be held at McKinley Memorial Presbyterian Church 809 S. 5th St., Champaign on Monday, February 26 at 6:30 PM.
Karen will be laid to rest with her family at Queen of Heaven Cemetery 1400 S. Wolf Rd. Hillside Illinois on Friday, March 2 at 10 AM in the chapel.
Karen was an avid animal lover and rescued many dogs. Any donations can be sent to the Champaign County Humane Society, 1911 East Main Street, Urbana, IL 61802.
