John R. Weir

John Robert Weir, Jr., of Mahomet, passed away unexpectedly on March 3rd at the age of 68. A native of St. Louis, later of Carbondale, IL, John was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

There will be a funeral mass at 12:00 on Saturday March 10 at Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church (503 W. State St.) in Mahomet. The visitation will be two hours prior to the service (10:00-12:00) at the church. Burial will be at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Seymour.

Beloved husband of the late Judith (Grosch) Weir, John is survived by his brother Jim (Mary Frances), and sisters Mary (Ray) Gregory and Regina Horton, his children, Brian (Wendy), Steven (Patricia), Kimberly (Mark) Coglianese, Matthew, as well as many adoring grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

John enjoyed reading, fishing, helping his customers at Shields Auto Center in Rantoul, and spending time with his family, always with camera in hand. John was a great father and will be missed.
