Jamie Stewart Kruidenier (née Brosnan), proud resident of Champaign, Illinois, passed away on July 11, 2018 at the age of 63 years after a nearly decade-long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on March 18, 1955 on Chicago’s northwest side, Jamie was raised in Morton Grove, Illinois. She went to Maine East High School before attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine and Applied Arts. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts.
Jamie was a lifelong educator and faculty member at Parkland Community College, devout Christian, Sunday school teacher, gardener, and volunteer in the Champaign-Urbana community. She was also an accomplished artist with her paintings, drawings, sculptures, and other work displayed in private collections and galleries throughout the country. Most of all, Jamie was a dear friend and confidant to many, and her kindness was paid back by the entire community who cared for her during her extended illness.
Jamie will be sadly missed by her husband of more than 40 years, Bill, her sons Ryan (Mary Lee), Jeremy (Jill), granddaughters Lily and Saoirse, her sister Kimberlee Brosnan-Myers, her brother Timothy Brosnan, and numerous aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and life-long friends; all who enriched her life beyond measure. Jamie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Anne Brosnan.
Services will take place at First United Methodist Church at 210 W. Church St. in Champaign with a visitation from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, July 13 and a celebration of life on Saturday, July 14 at 10:30 AM. The family will be in the Friendship Center adjacent to the sanctuary after the celebration for those who wish to greet them. A private internment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please honor Jamie by making a contribution in her memory to the Don Lake Art Scholarship at Parkland College or to the Alzheimer’s Association – Illinois Chapter.
