Elmer Crawford, Jr

Elmer (Sonny) E Crawford Jr, 81, of Champaign passed away at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Illini Heritage.

Elmer was born January 20, 1936 in Urbana to Elmer Sr and Julia (Brown) Crawford.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Richard, Keith, Larry and his sister Ladonna.

Elmer is survived by his wife Louise (Hinrichs); brother, Dennis and his 2 sons, Elmer III and James and 3 grandsons, Michael, Matthew and Thomas.

Elmer served 4 years in the Air Force before working for the post office for 40 years. He battled many health issues over the years but always came back to live a full life. Elmer was active in Boy Scouts with his sons and went to all school and church activities with his grandsons.

Elmer will be missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be at Owens Funeral Home on Monday November 6, 2017 from 9 – 11:00 am. The funeral service will begin at 11:00, at the funeral home. Rev Jeff Caithamer of St. John Lutheran Church to officiate. He will be laid to rest at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.
