Arlon "A.J." McGuire, 80, of Mahomet, formerly of Piper City, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at University Rehab in Urbana after a very long illness.
He was born July 8, 1938, in Pontiac, to Joseph and Evelyn (Wagner) McGuire. He married Shirley Lambert in 1961. He later married Judith Wilson Boma in 1977.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; son, James (Lori) of Auburn; two stepsons, Scott (Teresa) Boma of Gibson City and Phillip (Lisa) Boma of Saybrook; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents.
Arlon served in the U.S. Army and then farmed in Piper City. In 1989, he and his wife moved to Mahomet. He worked as a courier for Community Blood Services until his retirement.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Monday, May 20, at Riverside Cemetery in Mahomet.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Carle Hospice.
