Amelia 'Pat' Edblad

Amelia “Pat” Edblad of Champaign passed away on Saturday (Jan. 20, 2018).

She was born April 21, 1928, in Champaign, a daughter of Daniel Day Sr. and Julie Walters Day. She married Lawrence LaVernway in 1958 with whom she spent many good years until his passing in 1988. She later married Earl Edblad on April 21, 1991, and was happily married until his passing in 2009.

She is survived by brothers, John Day of Savoy and Wilfred (Pauline) Day of Silver Springs, Fla.; daughters, Candy Patterson of Tuscola, Connie Fairfield (James) of Seymour and Barbara Grove (Sam) of Fort Worth, Texas; son, Bob (Carolyn) Patterson of Champaign; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Bob, Dan, Clifford, William and James Day; and sisters, Harriette Pulliam, Shirley Taggert and Martha Kappes.

Amelia was a homemaker; she loved playing cards, reading novels and spending time with family and especially both grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her door was always open and had a plate of food ready for a visitor. She will be dearly missed by many. She enjoyed spending time with her neighbor, Marge LaRoe, who was always there for her.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 9 to 10 a.m., at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana.
